Participant Safety & Fiction ContractParticipant Safety & Fiction ContractFiction Contract While working through this simulation, you will be reviewing a case study from a crime scene. The patients and this situation are fictional, but based on real clinical specimens that could be received in a Crime scene laboratory. No patient confidentiality aspects have been breeched in the making of this simulation. You will be using a fictional Standard operating procedure to read and work through the PCR Crime scene investigation described in this simulation. This Standard operating procedure is not to be used in any Crime scene investigation laboratory. You will be able to engage with the simulation in a safe learning environment and can repeat it as many times as you like. We realize that some aspects of this simulation are not real, but as a learner, we hope that you will treat the specimens and patients as though they are real in order to practice your skills. You will be scored on your simulation attempts and will see a report outlining correct answers. Confidentiality Contract During the virtual simulation, we ask you to be non-judgmental and be open to learning from the simulation. It is important to remember that what happens in the simulation stays in the simulation. By maintaining confidentiality related to the virtual simulation experiences and other's choices or comments, you help create a psychologically safe learning environment and an effective experience for all learners. We encourage you to work through the simulation on your own and allow other students to do the same. Be open to learning from your mistakes and maintain confidentiality related to this virtual simulation experience. We encourage you to ask for assistance from your didactic instructor or clinical preceptor, should you have issues with any aspects of this simulation. Psychological Safety and Sensitive Content The following virtual simulation has potentially disturbing content. It is designed for mature learners who are healthcare workers. If you have any unsettled feeling during or after the virtual simulation, reach out to your educator or counselling services at your institution. |
