Mrs Stevens has arranged to see you because she had a positive pregnancy test earlier in the week. Her last menstrual period (LMP) was 8 weeks ago.

Her husband is a Cystic Fibrosis (CF) carrier (diagnosed on cascade screening after a distant relative was diagnosed with CF). The couple have read on the internet that this means their baby has a high risk of having CF and are very anxious about it. Mrs Stevens understands that treatment for CF has improved significantly in last 20 years and that life expectancy has improved. However she and her husband are aware of burden of treatment on child.

Mrs Stevens tells you she is from a caucasian background and asks you the probability that their baby has CF.
