Next Step

At her next visit, Cathy says she uses a 'moderate amount' of heroin a day. She reports that if she doesn't get her heroin on time, she has uncomfortable symptoms that include muscle pains, chills, sweats and strong cravings for heroin.

She is anxious constantly and worries about money, her safety with clients as a sex-trade worker, and her daughter. She says that if she doesn't get help for her heroin use she will kill herself.

Last year, she was admitted to a psychiatric ward after taking an overdose of heroin.
