Frequently Asked QuestionsThere is a more updated list of FAQs maintained at the open public notebook for this project: https://www.evernote.com/pub/psnips2/TTipsOpen but the main points are covered here: Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I get into these notes?
Might seem surprising for a first question. Simple - download the software from http://evernote.com/ - it's free. Then send us an email and we will reply with a link that gets you into these shared notebooks like 'Teaching Tips'
How much time will this take?
There is no time commitment. But the more that people contribute in ideas and tips, the more we all get out of it.
Where & when is this happening?
We launched a pilot group in December 2012, gradually accumulating current and past tips. There will be a workshop at Cabin Fever at Kananaskis in Feb 2013. And we'll all be rolling along from there.
What do I actually have to do?
Participate! Actively! You decide as a group which tips are useful and edit those that need tweaking.
At the on-site session, we will work on easy ways to gather and share tips. Plus we will explore why some clinicians might be shy to share.
Following the on-site session, anyone can sign up for these tips. Initially, this will be restricted to rural Alberta physicians but we hope to grow from there.
What's in it for me?
Ah, ever the practical points... a chance to learn with and from your peers about stuff you've discovered in practice. Or stuff from CME sessions, clinical practice guidelines.
Why are we using Evernote for collaboration?
There are many excellent collaboration apps out there. For our purposes, we chose something that works well across Windows, Mac, iPhone, Android platforms so that you could easily use this tool to make your own quick notes and contributions, right when you come across them. All contributions are automatically synchronised as soon as you have a web connection. And contributions from others are seamlessly fed back to you. Most other tools require you to be connected to contribute. Evernote can be used online or offline - you only need to be online to sync.
How will we create our material?
We are experimenting with ways to collect good material. But at the moment, it is as simple as 'Create Note' and then save it in the Teaching Tips notebook. |
