Confidence Based MarkingThis has been raised before in this VP case example: 'CBM Questions Boost Confidence' Confidence-Based (or Certainty-Based) Marking is a technique where the candidates are asked not just for their response but also for their confidence in whether this is correct. This same approach could be used to add a strength of preference to a rank order. You could use simple Likert scales for these, or analog scales for either or both of these. Example: You are skiing out of bounds when your buddy trips on a root and breaks his leg. He is in a lot of pain. Plot the following choices for desirability and practicality: a) Beam me up to the sick bay, Scotty How desirable is this response? How practical is this response? b) Call for a helicopter rescue How desirable is this response? How practical is this response? c) Call for a sled rescue How desirable is this response? How practical is this response? d) Carry him out yourself on your back How desirable is this response? How practical is this response? e) Take out the 12 gauge! How desirable is this response? How practical is this response? This dual axis approach introduces an interesting element where the strength of preference can also be assessed. Research is needed on how to score this dual axis approach. Check out some other scoring options or FINISH the case. |
