Info about SJTSituational Judgment Testing SJT has been around since the early 90s and has proven to be a useful method of assessing candidates' capacity for judgment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Situational_judgement_test Within medical education, they are more recently used in assessing candidates for entering training programs or medical school. They arise from workforce psychology and are supposed to test attributes more effectively in domains that are not entirely associated with clinical expertise, such as ethics and social accountability. An initial stem is presented. Then the candidate is asked to judge the most effective responses, either by choosing 3 options from approximately 8, or by placing the responses in a rank order of preference. In a manner that is somewhat similar to Script Concordance Testing, responses are compared with that of a reference panel, rather than with what the case authors have determined to be correct. In our work, we have mostly focused on the rank-order style of questioning because we feel that this is able to more deeply explore the candidates' attitudes. |
