Prime the learner for the upcoming patient encounter.  Review the chart with the learner and go over those items that might be important for the current visit.  Let the student know these are the things you are going to be specifically asking about.  This can focus the student's attention for the patient encounter.  If done ahead of time (such as the beginning of the day... the student may also have a chance to read about pertinent topics ahead of time, driving home some learning points)
