Poor view, poor videographer

This brief clip highlights in a simple way just how challenging it can be to record good teaching views in laryngoscopy.

Listen to how the poor videographer fudges about getting a good view when asked by the surgeon.

But remember that this is a typical situation for medical students: "Did you see that?", "Oh, yes, sir". We've all been there. This applies to so many observation situations: laryngoscopy, pelvic exams, slit lamps, fundoscopy etc.

This second video looks promising initially, with a nice clear view of the throat and mirror.

Sadly it is focused on the pharynx, not on the cords. So while the surgeon gets a nice clean look at the cords, we can't really see much more than a fuzzy image. Oh, and that piano music! I had to suffer it so I inflicted it on you. This is one reason why we prefer to apply our own secondary sound tracks through the CURIOS video mashup service.

Oh well. Try again.
