The daughter volunteers that the topic of suffering when dying had become a regular topic of family dinner conversations, after her uncle's death, which did not go well. 

She manages to produce some home video material from the previous Thanksgiving dinner, showing some of these conversations. Some of it is ironically light-hearted and the quality of the video could be better. 

But in the video, the patient is quite clearly seen stating, "Just promise me, you kids, that you won't let me suffer like my brother did. When my time comes, for goodness sake, just put an end to it."
