Follow upRemember to give the patient advice about checking for device prolapse and expulsion after each period. (This is not mentioned in any of the videos we found, here or elsewhere on the Internet.) However, there is very good advice available from this site in the UK: http://patient.info/doctor/intrauterine-contraceptives-iucd-and-ius-management Advise your patient to check for the presence of strings each month after her menses. She should also check her cervix for the end of the device. While one might think that it would be obvious if the device was expelled during menstruation, this is not always the case and should not be relied upon. |
