Welcome to this virtual patient encounter. This experience is designed to develop, challenge and assess your clinical decision making ability.

You navigate through this encounter by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of these windows. You will often have choices such as "take a history" or "perform a physical exam". At the bottom of this page you will see a button which states "start the case". Clicking on this text will surprisingly start the case.

Do not click on every option that is given to you during the case. As in real life, you need to make decisions about what questions to ask and what tests to perform. You will lose points in this case if you simply click on every option. Revisiting a particular node is the same as repeating the question or the exam component, which can affect your score on the case. It may be useful to take some notes along the way, as you would do in the clinic, so you remember the results of your examination.

When answering a short answer question make sure to hit the "Submit" button at the bottom of the question or your answer will not be recoreded!

Try to avoid using the back arrow on your browser as that can create errors in the program.

There is some audio so make sure your speakers are on and unmuted.

Your performance on this virtual case will be assessed in a few ways.

1) The program will keep track of what choices you make (what links you click on). 

2) You will see occasional questions in the window which will also assess your knowledge and decision making.
