Pre-Simulation InformationDuring the following virtual simulation, you will interact with characters and a situation that are based on real clinical encounters. Virtual simulation fosters an environment for active engagement in a relatively safe environment. As the creators of the virtual simulation, we do all we can to make the simulation as real as possible. We do recognize that some aspects are not realistic. As the learner, we ask you to engage in the simulation, with all the healthcare team members and the client, as if they were real. Using these experiences this way provides you with the best, active learning opportunity possible. During the virtual simulation, we ask you to be non-judgmental and be open to learning from others in your group and from the simulation. It is important to remember that what happens in the simulation stays in the simulation. By maintaining confidentiality related to the virtual simulation experiences and other's choices or comments, you help create a psychologically safe learning environment and an effective experience for all learners. At times caring for patients may be diffricult and trigger thougths and feelings from previous experiences. This can be a normal part of nursing work and it is important to acknowledge these experiences and how they may contribute to current and future nursing practice. If you would like to talk about any part of your experience with this simulation please reach out to your course instructor or someone from your student wellness services. For urgent matters, please call the emergency services phone number in your area, or go to your nearest hospital. |
