Radia Head Replacement

32 yr old male, Edward Morrison, s/p (L) radial head replacement following a FOOSH while "fat biking" 9 weeks ago. Pt is presently 8 weeks post-pop and is referred to Physiotherapy. 

Main Dominante/Hand Dominance: Left Handed  Acces Direct/Direct Access—MD: Dr. R. Coughlin (Ortho) 

Diagnostic/Diagnosis: 8 Weeks post Left Radial Head Replacement.

HPI: February 16, 2020, the patient was “fat biking” in the laurentians and fell over his handlebars landing on his outstretched arm. He felt and heard a crack and knew that he needed to get to the hospital because his pain was unbearable. He went to the St-Agathe Hospital where he got X-Rays. Following meeting with the doctor, he was transferred to the MGH to be seen by the orthopedic trauma team. He was placed in a temporary cast and had an apt at the MGH the following day.

The patient met with Dr R Coughlin and was explained that he had fractured the head of his radius. Because of where it was fractured, healing would be unlikely, so the best course of action was a Radial Head replacement surgery that would be scheduled for February 21, 2020.

Following the surgery, he was placed in a fiberglass cast that went ½ way up his arm and covered his wrist/thumb. He had been wearing a sling ever since the surgery. He was afraid to move the arm.

Two days ago, the cast was removed, and f/u X-Rays show that the surgery was a success. Patient continues to wear his sling and protect the arm. Reports that he is “scared” to move it.
