Precision Education from Activity Metrics

There are various ways in which we can display our learner progression using a sunburst diagram.

The sunburst groups the outer Activity metrics --> EPAs --> Competencies near the centre. 

Float the mouse over the left side sunburst and follow the progression trends for that sector on the right side graph. 

This diagram crudely shows how you can cluster basic activity metrics, derived from multiple sources, to examine how various activities and scenarios build towards Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs), including pre-entrustable activities, and thence to assess how the development of Competencies can be supported and enhanced. 

This diagram is based on a crude analysis of past and current activity metrics, garnered using a variety of techniques. Most recently, the ADL Experience API (xAPI) has accelerated what data can be gathered from many different sources. The simplicity of implementing this xAPI has helped enormously.  

The application of Big Data principles and cognitive computing platforms and services for analyzing correlations between data sources is showing great promise in simplifying some of the potentially complex datasets we have at our disposal.
