Costas returns for his resultYou receive Costas' blood results two weeks later and you find out that he is HIV positive. You ask Costas to return to the surgery urgently and he makes an appointment to see you in a few days time. When he arrives you give him the results of the test. Costas is devastated by the result. You explain the need for a referral and he agrees to see a specialist. You tell Costas that his wife, his other sexual partners and, potentially, his children are at risk and that it is important that they are informed about the risk so that they can be tested for the disease. Costas stands up abruptly and tells you that he does not want anyone to know of his diagnosis and tells you flatly that you are not to tell anyone else. Before you have the chance to respond, he storms out of the door. |
